Serbian President in Yad Vashem

The President of Republic of Serbia Boris Tadic with his aides visited Memorial institution for the Holocaust Yad Vashem in Jerusalem on Tuesday, November 8. On the gates of Yad Vashem President Tadic was welcomed by Mr. Avner Salev, Chairman of the Directorate of this institution. He joined the President also later during the memorial ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance at the end of President Tadic’s tour. The tour was guided by Dr. Robertt Rozett, chief of the library of Yad Vashem who especially paid attention on the new Museum, opened on March 15 this year (in the capacity of the minister of defense, President Tadic already visited Yad Vashem few years ago). Dr. Rozett explained in detail historical facts and historiographical and pedagogical ideas behind the new museum. Then, President Tadic and military attaché of Serbia and Montenegro in Israel, Colonel Tomislav Djurin laid wreath in the Hall of Remembrance; afterwards Mr. Shalev and Mr. Rozett accompanied the President to the place dedicated to Jasenovac death camp where Mr. Tadic laid flowers. During the two-hours visit, President Tadic was accompanied also by Ms. Krinka Vidakovic-Petrov, the Ambassador of Serbia and Montenegro in Israel, same as by Ms. Jaffa Ben-Ari, the Israeli Ambassador in Belgrade.
