On Tuesday, December 14, 2010 second seminar on the Holocaust was held in the great hall of the parliament of the Vojvodina province in Novi Sad. The seminar was organized by the Jewish Community of Novi Sad and Simon Wiesenthal Center from Jerusalem.

An international theological-historiographical conference “The Dialog Between the Orthodox and Roman-Catholics” was held on October 28, 2010 in Sankt Petersburg. It was organized by the Department of History of the State University of Sankt Petersburg and the orthodox media agency “The Russian Naioal Line” from Sankt Peterburg on the occasion of the translation of the book “The Archbishop of the Genocide” by Marco Aurelio Rivelli into Russian.

On December 15, so called Russian True Orthodox Church canonized the founder of Ustaša-established „CroatianOrhodox Church“ Germogen (Maximov).

From November 30-December 2 a delegation of the Association Jadovno 1941 headed by its president Dr. Dušan Bastašić were in an official visit to Israel, hosted by Jasenovac Committee.

In October 2010 Mr. Matteo Halpern Bojanovich launched an English web-site on the Holocaust in the province of Kosovo and Metohija. [More »]

On November 25-26, Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies of the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, an academic gathering with subject on Holocaust in South-East Europe will take place.

Zuroff submitted documents to the Hungarian authorities in August 2006 to prove that Sandor Kepiro, while serving as a Hungarian gendarmerie officer in World War II, organized a massacre of about 1,246 residents - Jews, Serbs and Roma - in the city of Novi Sad in January 1942. Kepiro, now 96, sued Zuroff in 2007, alleging that Zuroff had made statements about the case as fact rather than opinion.

In the journal Holocaust and Genocide Studies number 2/2009, Tomislav Dulich published new analysis of the notorious testimony given by Jasenovac survivor Vojislav Prnjatović, and used by Franjo Tuđman and his succesors, where Jews were accused of running the Jasenovac camp.

In Montenegro Adriatic coastal city of Herceg Novi, at August 27, Serbian cultural-educational society "Prosvjeta" and monks of Monastery Savina revаiled the stone monument to Jasenovac victims, which was sanctified by presbyter Gojko Mračević. [More »]

An announcement that streets will be named after Diana Budisavljević in Belgrade, Banja Luka, Kozarska Dubica, Zagreb and Sisak is the beginning of the of the correction of the unjustice towards the greatest Serbian benefactor; her work have a place among the greatest humanitarian actions in whole Europe during the Second World War.

During the visit to the Diocese of Bihać and Petrovac (Bosnia and Herzegovina), the Abbot of Simonopetra Monastery from Mount Athos Archimandrite Elisha, served a memorial service for the innocent victims of Ustaši terror at the killing and burial ground Garavice, near Bihać.

The Higher Court in Belgrade has prohibited the distribution of Swiss historian Jurgen Graf’s book “The Myth of the Holocaust” in Republic of Serbia.

From July 11-29, Mr. Svetozar Gligorić from Banja Luka (Republic of Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina) participated at the Summer Seminar at the Yad Vashem’s International School for Holocaust Studies in Jerusalem.

A weekly of Serbian community in Croatia „Novosti“ pleaded recently for renewal of former Jasenovac camp No. 5 – Stara Gradiška, situated thirty kilometers downstream of Sava from Jasenovac.

Instead of visiting Auschwitz, this year for the first time a group of Israeli students from Modi’in Highschool marked Yom HaShoa at Jasenovac.

During his visit to Croatia Israeli President Shimon Peres visite also Memorial area Jasenovac on July, 25 and paid respect to the victims of Ustaši terror. “This camp was different from all others because it was not only for Jews, but it was different by the level of brutality as well,“ said Peres during the visit.

On Thursday August 19, Danko Vasović’s long documentary film „Waldheim – The Hidden Evil“ was shown at Abigndon Theatre at New York City International Film Festival.

On Monday, August 16, the second day of his visit to Israel, prime minister of Republic of Srpska visited Yad Vashem. Guided by Ms. Sara Pećanac, a Director at Archives division, Mr. Dodik laid wreaths for the Holocaust victims and especially for those who were murdered in Jasenovac in the Hall of Remembrance.

First Jadovno Commemoration Day will be held on June 26, and two commemorative plaques will be unveiled – one on Šaran’s Pit and the other at the place of Slana camp at the island of Pag. Memorial service will be served by Bishop of Gornji Karlovac Gerasim, and high delegations same as descendants and admirers of the victims of Jadovno camp complex are expected.

A 4 days Seminar hosted by Jasenovac Memorial Site organized in the framework of the E-FoR: Education for Remembrance project took place from 22nd to 26th of February 2010 in Jasenovac, Croatia.

The International Commission for the Truth on Jasenovac announced that Fifth International Conference on Jasenovac will be held in Banja Luka (Republika Srpska / Bosnia and Herzegovina) on 24 and 25 May 2011.

On May 26, in the presence of Israeli Minister of Science Rabbi Daniel Hershkowitz and Serbian Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs Dragan Šutanovac and Vuk Jeremić, Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Republic of Serbia Artur Koll delivered Medals of the „Rightheous Among the Nations“ to the families of  Ranđel Stojanović, Marija Tomić, Milica and Mihailo Bogićević as well as Miroslava i Simeon Protić.

New York parish of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Jasenovac Research Institute led by Mr. Barry Lituchy organized 9th Annual Jasenovac Day of Commemoration Ceremonies. The mayor of New Yok City Michael Bloomberg proclaimed Sunday April 25 as Day of Remembrance for Jasenovac Victims. [More »]

On April 27, exhibition “Jasenovac/Donja Gradina” was opened at “Manyezh” in Sankt Petersburg. The exhibition is made of photographs and documents, and its author is Simo Brdar. Mr. Brdar also lectured about Jasenovac at St. Petersburg’s State University.

Established in Banja Luka on December 25, 2009 under the nae “Jadovno 1941”, Association of Descendants and Supporters of Victims of Ustashian Concentration Camps in Jadovno was promoted in Press Centre of Hotel Bosna in Banja Luka wit participation of Bishop Atanasije Jevtic. Since then, the Association developed lively activity.

At the May sesion of the Holy Assembly of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church feast of the New-Martyrs of Jasenovac was established on August 31/September 13.  [More »]

On April 5, 2010, a donner dinner was held in Republika Srpska (Bosnia & Herzegovina) town Višegrad with an aim to collect means for building of an memorial chapel to the victims of Ustaši massacre in the townlet of Stari Brod at the riverbank of Drina in 1942. The dinner was attented by both clergy of the Serbian Orthodox Church and prominent personalties from public life and the industry.

Službeni glasnik from Belgrade published at the end of 2009 a book by Jaša Almuli “Jews and Serbs in Jasenovac”. Book was presented already twice in Belgrade – at Kolarac’s Popular University and at the Faculty of Law; promotion at in Banja Luka in Republika Srpska is following.

David Bankier, who helped expand the contours of Holocaust research by examining the participation of ordinary Europeans in the extermination of their Jewish neighbors, died over the weekend after a long illness, Yad Vashem, the Jerusalem Holocaust center, announced. He was 63. [More »]

One-day seminar on Holocaust education for faculty of the Serbian Orthodox theological colleges was held at the Belgrade synagogue on February, 2. Lecturers and participants were greeted by Irena Soldat-Vujanović, Assistant Minister for Culture in the Ministry of Education and Culture in Republic of Srpska and Rabbi Isaak Asiel. Opening lecture was given by H.E. Arthur Koll, Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Republic of Serbia. [More »]
