Serbian President in Yad Vashem
The President of Republic of Serbia Boris Tadic with his aides visited Memorial
institution for the Holocaust Yad Vashem in Jerusalem on Tuesday, November 8.
On the gates of Yad Vashem President Tadic was welcomed by Mr. Avner Salev,
Chairman of the Directorate of this institution. He joined the President also
later during the memorial ceremony in the Hall of Remembrance at the end of
President Tadic’s tour. The tour was guided by Dr. Robertt Rozett, chief of
the library of Yad Vashem who especially paid attention on the new Museum, opened
on March 15 this year (in the capacity of the minister of defense, President
Tadic already visited Yad Vashem few years ago). Dr. Rozett explained in detail
historical facts and historiographical and pedagogical ideas behind the new
museum. Then, President Tadic and military attaché of Serbia and Montenegro
in Israel, Colonel Tomislav Djurin laid wreath in the Hall of Remembrance; afterwards
Mr. Shalev and Mr. Rozett accompanied the President to the place dedicated to
Jasenovac death camp where Mr. Tadic laid flowers. During the two-hours visit,
President Tadic was accompanied also by Ms. Krinka Vidakovic-Petrov, the Ambassador
of Serbia and Montenegro in Israel, same as by Ms. Jaffa Ben-Ari, the Israeli
Ambassador in Belgrade.
