Ms. Orit Margaliot from the International School for Holocaust Studies of Yad Vashem visited Croatia and Serbia at the end of January on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. January 25-28 Ms. Margaliot participated at the teacher training on the Holocaust in Croatia and visited Jasenovac. Visit to Serbia was organized by the secretariat for education and culture of the province of Vojvodina; thus, teacher training was held in Novi Sad on January 29. Since it was the first visit of a representative of the International School to Serbia, Ms. Margaliot was on January 30 received by His Eminence Bishop of Bačka Irinej. They evoked common Serbian and Jewish suffering during the Second World War and empgasized need for memorialization of the victims. At the end of meeting, Bishop Irinej handed over to Ms. Margaliot Serbian translations of educational materials of Yad Vashem. Translations were prepared by Jasenovac Committee as the gift of the Serbian Church to Yad Vashem and Serbian Ministry of Education. In afterwards, Ms. Orit and her hosts met with representatives of Jasenovac Committee.
