JASENOVAC COMMEMORATION IN NEW YORK

New York parish of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Jasenovac Research Institute led by Mr. Barry Lituchy organized 9th Annual Jasenovac Day of Commemoration Ceremonies. The mayor of New Yok City Michael Bloomberg proclaimed Sunday April 25 as Day of Remembrance for Jasenovac Victims. |
| On Saturday April 24 aprila protosingel Jovan (Ćulibrk), coordinator of Jasenovac Committee of the Holy Assembly of Bishops gave a lecture on the Annual Dinner. Tomorrow on April 25, in the church of St. Sava liturgy and memorial srvice for Jasenovac victims were served, and in the afternoon commemorative event was held at Holocaust Memorial Park in Brooklyn. On that occassion a new monument to the victims from the Polish province of Zaglembia was inaugurated and Prof. Robert Shapiro of Brooklyn College joined the event with his lecture. |
